I need to reconnect my OnlyCat to a different Wi-Fi network

Accepted Answer

This can be done with ease by putting the device back in Wi-Fi Setup mode using the button located next to the USB input on the bottom of the device.

Press the button (circled) once to bring up the Setup Menu
Press the button again twice to make the selector move down to Wi-Fi Setup.
Press and hold the same button to select.

Once in the Wi-Fi Setup menu, you can enter your new Wi-Fi settings by following these steps as if you were adding a new device:

Open the OnlyCat app, and navigate to the Devices tab
Press the + button, as if you were adding a new device
Scan the QR code showing on your OnlyCat device
Follow the steps to enter your new network's details

Re-adding an existing device in this way allows setting it up to connect to your new network. No settings will be lost - all door policies and other configuration settings will remain as before.

Question 2

I have a Door Policy in place, but the app says "Transit Approved"

Accepted Answer

In short, the “Transit Approved” wording overlaid on the image relates specifically to prey detection. This wording was chosen before we had the Door Policies feature in place.

For now, you can have a look in the top right corner, the padlock symbolises whether the cat flap is actually locked or unlocked. In a future update we'll make the wording more accurately reflect what decision has been made based on curfews and microchip controls.

Update Failed: OnlyCat Firmware Recovery

OnlyCat will typically install software updates automatically.

In rare cases where such installation fails, and where you have been advised to do so by support, you may follow the steps below to attempt recovery of the device software.

Enter USB MSC Mode on the Device

Press the button (circled) once to bring up the Setup Menu.
Press the button again three times to make the selector move down to "USB MSC".

Alternatively, pressing and holding the setup button for 15 seconds should cause OnlyCat to reboot and enter USB MSC mode.

Copy over the provided firmware update

Connect OnlyCat to a laptop or computer via a suitable USB Type C cable.
OnlyCat should show as an external storage device under the name "OnlyCat"
Drag the provided firmware file to this storage device. After a few seconds, OnlyCat should start to update its software.

Keeping the cable neat and out of the way is important for both safety and appearance, especially with pets at home. Depending on your time, budget, and style, you can choose an approach that’s simple, subtle, or seamless.

Cable management accessories are widely available at most hardware stores. The examples below are some of the most common ways our customers have arranged theirs—but any suitable alternative will work, so feel free to adapt the setup to your space.

OnlyCat is designed to be a mains-powered device for reliable, continuous operation.

It can run from a large battery pack, but keep in mind:

A ~20,000 mAh battery typically lasts 24-36 hours.
Batteries would likely need replacing or recharging every couple of days.

Most of our customers find that, after the one-off effort of running a power cable, it’s easier and more convenient than constantly swapping batteries.

The power is connected to the underside of the device:

Backup Battery

There is a small, internal back-up battery which is designed to weather short-term power interruptions or to unlock the door upon external power loss (- configurable through the app).

How Can I Install OnlyCat and Manage the Power Cable in doors?

There are several ways to handle this depending on your preference for a quick setup or a more polished finish.

Quick Temporary Fix: Some customers temporarily secure the cable with hot glue, which takes just a few minutes:

Refined Installation: For a cleaner look, you can use epoxy or silicone to create a uniform bead around the cable, clip the wire around the skirting board using cable clips, or use cable trunking.
