My cat is afraid of locking sounds - what can I do?

The default locking sound of OnlyCat is very similar to the SureFlap DualScan Microchip Cat Flap, so for most cats it feels quite familiar. However, some cats can be sensitive to noises and may need a little extra support when getting used to it.

Try Training Mode

You can set your device into Training Mode, where the flap remains unlocked by default. This means:

  • Your cat can pass through without hearing the locking noise.
  • If you enable Contraband Detection, the flap will lock if prey is detected.

Helping Your Cat Adjust

  • Training Mode allows your cat to explore and pass through the flap without any locking sounds.
  • Use favourite treats, toys, or gentle encouragement to create a positive association.
  • Once your cat is comfortable, you can gradually reintroduce locking.

How to Enable Training Mode

  1. Open the OnlyCat app.
  2. Go to Devices.
  3. Tap the + button and select Training Mode.
  4. Once created, tap the Training Mode device and then select Activate.

This way your cat can get used to the flap quietly and at their own pace, while you still benefit from features like Contraband Detection.
