# Understanding your active door policy and rule order

## Which policy is active?

The active door policy is displayed with a **blue background** in the OnlyCat app. If you are unsure which policy currently applies, check for that blue background rather than relying on the policy name.

For the current app setup and policy-creation guidance, see [Getting started with the OnlyCat app](https://www.onlycat.com/getting-started-app-setup/).

## How rule order works

OnlyCat analyses the rules in the active policy **from top to bottom**. As soon as a rule is satisfied, the rules below it are no longer analysed.

A satisfied rule near the top can therefore prevent a lower rule from being evaluated. When reviewing a configuration, check the order as well as each rule's conditions.

If you need help combining scheduled hours and permissions for individual cats, send Support the ordered rules and what you want to happen for each cat and direction. We can review your actual configuration; do not assume a lower rule will override a satisfied rule above it.

## Why can't I delete the active policy?

OnlyCat must always have an active policy. You can edit the active policy, or create another policy and activate it first, then delete the old one. Check the blue background to confirm which policy is active.

## Training mode has two different behaviours

When **creating a training policy**, you can configure it to include a prey-detection rule. Prey detection in this mode may be less reliable.

If you **enable training mode on an existing policy**, the lock stays permanently unlocked. Do not assume it will still lock to block prey.

See [My cat is afraid of locking sounds](https://help.onlycat.com/en/article/my-cat-is-afraid-of-locking-sounds-what-can-i-do-1ifze14/) for the related training guidance.

## What does Transit Approved mean?

Transit Approved means prey detection identified no prey and allowed access. It does not by itself prove that the flap physically opened or that a cat passed through. The padlock icon shows the current padlock status; Ready means the device is functioning and waiting for transits.

See [Transit Approved and door policies](https://help.onlycat.com/en/article/i-have-a-door-policy-in-place-but-the-app-says-transit-approved-2916of/) for more detail.

## The flap behaves differently from the policy

If entry, exit or locking behaves unexpectedly, contact Support with the **device ID** and links to the relevant events showing the behaviour, plus which policy is active and what you expected to happen. Our team will review this. You do not need to recreate the problem to capture new evidence; tell us if events are unavailable.

## Sharing event links with Support

To share an event, open it in the app and click **Share Event Link**. Paste the link(s) here in your existing support conversation so all correspondence stays together. Please share event links rather than screenshots of the events. If you cannot share an event link, tell Support so we can continue with that limitation recorded.
