# Range Testing Kit Instructions

# **Range Test Kit Instructions**

The Range Test Kit contains a microchip attached to a measuring stick. Please test it from both sides of your installation.

### **1. Register the test microchip**

Hold the kit close to your OnlyCat so the device can detect the microchip. In the OnlyCat app, look for a new event in the **Activity Feed** showing its microchip number. Select the microchip and rename it **Range Test Chip**.

### **2. Create and activate a test policy**

Create a policy named **Range Test Kit Policy**. Set it to allow the **Range Test Chip** to enter and exit, then activate it.

### **3. Measure the reading range**

Start outside, with the microchip at the **25 cm mark** and the thicker end of the kit centred on the swinging flap. Keep the kit in this position and gradually **(at a rate of approximately 1 centimetre per second)** slide it towards the flap until the door unlocks. Record the distance shown on the ruler when it unlocks.

Repeat this **10 times from outside** and **10 times from inside**, starting at 25 cm for each attempt. Record each result, including any attempt where the door does not unlock.

### **4. Send us your results**

Please send us all 20 readings, labelled **outside** and **inside**, and we'll then review the data and feedback our findings.

Once you have finished, activate your intended everyday door policy first and check that it has the **blue background**. OnlyCat must always have an active policy; you cannot delete the active test policy until another policy is activated. You can then remove the **Range Test Kit Policy**. If you have any difficulty completing the test, please let us know.
